Paleo Diet increases risk of heart disease
Australian researchers have found that following a strict Paleolithic diet (with very low dietary fiber content and abundant meat) alters the gut microbiome, which in turn produces larger amounts of TMAO, a chemical that can cause an increased risk of cardiovascular disease.
FDA acknowledges olive oil health benefits
The FDA has published the recommendation that replacing saturated fats with high oleic oils (olive oil, canola, sunflower oil) promotes a healthy heart and minimzes the risk of coronary heart disease. One and a half tablespoons per day are enough to reap the health benefits of olive oil.
Low Calorie Diet helps you burn more calories
Eating a diet with a low carbohydrate content (20% of daily caloric needs) and high fat content (60%) made participants burn more calories than those following a moderate or a high carb diet. It also improved triglycerides, HDL and insulin resistance plus lowering hunger hormone (Ghrelin) levels.
